I took this picture using an iPhone 6s. My mind was blown when I stood in front of the mosque. I just tried to capture the incredible detail (zoom in!!) and beauty of the architecture.

About the contest theme: To me the beauty of our planet is more than nature. Our cultural heritage plays a big part as well for me. Nature and culture need to be preserved, animals, as well as man-made treasures like this.

I don’t know if people realize this, but the whole façade of these old mosques in Iran (especially in Esphahan) are made out of little square tiles less than an inch squared in area, cemented onto the structure. In other words, this is not painted, it’s like a carpet design; mind boggling really.
