Russian leaders have issued warnings accusing the United States and Ukraine of preparing to initiate false flag attacks against the Kremlin’s military.

The U.S. is preparing to accuse the Russian military of using chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine because of the country’s “success in the special operation” of invading Ukraine, according to Igor Kirillov, the chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Force.

"In March to April of this year alone, the leadership of Western countries regularly made provocative statements about the possibility of Russia using weapons of mass destruction," Kirillov told the Russian-based state news outlet TASS .

The U.S. military can carry out one of three separate scenarios in response to Russia's show of force, the Russian leader alleged . Of these, Russian leaders assume the “provocations” will most likely occur in Kharkiv, Kyiv, or Zaporizhzhia.

The Kremlin also claimed Ukrainian officials were planning to launch a missile attack on their own navy base and blame Russia for the attack, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti . Through this purported false flag attack, the Ukrainian military would also stage a chemical attack on civilian infrastructure in Odesa, Russian officials said.

Law enforcement officials were seen distributing personal protective equipment to Ukrainian troops in the Odesa region to prepare for the attack, Russian media alleged.

Russia has long been accused of attempting false flag operations in Ukraine to justify its attacks and place the blame for destruction on other countries. However, these false accusations are merely projections of what the Kremlin plans to do, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"If you want to know what Russia's plans are, look at what Russia accuses others of," Zelensky said last month .

Russia was accused of deploying chemical weapons over the besieged city of Mariupol in early April, although these claims have not been verified.

The Washington Examiner contacted the U.S. State Department for comment on the claims but did not receive a response.
