Pat Tillman was a fascinating and thoughtful person, and his death and its cover up was a tragedy. Yes, he gave up an NFL career to join the army, but he really wasn’t at all what the propaganda might have tried to portray him as. Privately, he was very much against the war in Iraq from the beginning and wrote about it in his journal and to his family extensively. I can’t recommend the book about Tillman, “Where Men Win Glory” enough, though it may leave you really angry about his death and what followed. (Not to mention the other cover ups / lies spread about those wars, such as the whole Jessica Lynch story.)
