Traces of chemical weapons - sarin and other substances - have been found in the village of Bilka in the Sumy region after the Russian military stayed there.

Source: Mayor of Trostianets Yurii Bova, on air on Ukrainske Radio

Quote: "We found traces of chemical weapons in the village of Bilka - sarin and other substances. Ampoules were found. Now the Security Service of Ukraine is working on this. Perhaps the occupiers wanted to use this chemical in Kyiv, Poltava or other cities."

Details: According to Bova, the Russian soldiers laid a lot of trip wires during the month that they were in Trostianets. Many cemeteries, forest plantations, park areas and administrative facilities have been mined.

In Trostianets, two groups work on mine clearance every day: one is from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the other is from the military.

Ukrainian defenders have been demining new areas every day, but there are still dangerous places, and some fields are just strewn with explosives.

"draeger tubes" used to test for chemicals in the air. each ampule has a reagent in it that reacts to which ever particular chemical you're testing for. demonstration here
