(CNN) Rep. Liz Cheney said Sunday that the House select committee investigating the January 6th insurrection has "not made a decision" on criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, but she added it was "absolutely clear" that former President Donald Trump and a number of people around him knew their actions were "unlawful" but "did it anyway."
"I think what we have seen is a massive and well-organized and well-planned effort that used multiple tools to try to overturn an election," the Wyoming Republican told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."
Cheney, who serves on the committee, also pushed back on a Sunday New York Times article which said the committee is split on whether to refer Trump for criminal contempt, saying "There's not really a dispute on the committee."
"The committee is working in a really collaborative way to discuss these issues as we are with all of the issues we're addressing and we'll continue to work together to do so," she said. "I wouldn't characterize there being a dispute on the committee. I think it is the single most collaborative committee on which I've ever served."

“They knew it was wrong. They knew it was unlawful. And they did it anyway.” President Trump and those surrounding him broke the law. The January 6 committee must make an immediate referral to DOJ and make them answer for their crimes. They should not hesitate, they should not back down. A former president tried to prevent the peaceful transition of power.

I'm sick of right wingers calling for outright death to people like me just for existing but when they try to undo our democracy, so some man baby can cling onto power, we have to be soft and kind with our language.
Just like everyone has been pointing out for over a year now. They attempted a Coup. They wanted to keep power by force and install trump for an illegal second term. They knew it they admitted it in texts to eachother.
The Trumps are anti-American and so is the republican party for trying to cover it up as a whole.
The Trumps need to be behind bars.
