Ukraine's president criticized NATO on Thursday in an address to the military alliance, saying it hasn't actually proved that it can "save people."

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a pre-recorded video address that NATO leaders needed to increase their military support to Ukraine, and said that Russia would soon target NATO members in eastern Europe, like Poland, after its invasion of Ukraine.

He said that Russia "wants to go further. Against eastern members of NATO. The Baltic states. Poland for sure."

But he added: "NATO has yet to show what the Alliance can do to save people. To show that this is a truly powerful defense alliance in the world. The world is waiting."

NATO leaders met in Brussels on Thursday for an emergency meeting about Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The alliance's members include 28 European countries, the US, and Canada.

Zelenskyy's office shared his video address on Telegram.

Ukraine has tried to join NATO, but it is not a member and Russian President Vladimir Putin has opposed Ukraine joining.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly urged NATO to do more to help Ukraine against Russia.

There's a negotiation tactic which is basically ask for more than you think you can get.

NATO is never going to give him a no fly zone but if he keeps asking he might get more Planes and Antu Aircraft weaponry
