A Russian warship that attacked Ukraine's Snake Island last month has reportedly been destroyed, military sources told The Times on Tuesday.

The Times reported that a large patrol corvette named the Vasily Bykov appeared to have been hit by rockets early Monday morning local time.

"Ship was destroyed, it is confirmed," an anonymous Ukrainian military source told The Times.

Ukrainian officials haven't publicly confirmed whether the ship was sunk, or whether the purportedly destroyed Russian vessel is the Vasily Bykov.

In its report, The Times described a military-intelligence group as saying the Vasily Bykov was one of two ships that attacked Snake Island last month, in an incident in which Ukrainian soldiers told a Russian ship to "go fuck yourself."

The Ukrainian navy told The Times that troops defending Odessa had "struck an enemy ship" and that "the enemy has retreated again."

The Ukrainian navy on Monday posted a video it claimed showed an attack on a ship in the Black Sea. The caption did not identify the ship.

The Times said that in the video, two men could be heard questioning whether they hit the ship.

"We fucking hit them," one of the men said, according to The Times.

“The Ukrainian Navy, meanwhile, told The Times that troops defending Odesa, where Snake Island is located, had "struck an enemy ship," and that "the enemy has retreated again."

Video shared to Facebook by the Ukrainian Navy on Monday appears to show Ukrainian troops in Odesa attacking a ship. A caption on the video does not say what ship was hit.

But according to The Times' translation of the video, two men can be heard questioning whether they hit their target.

"We fucking hit them," one of the men said, according to the Times.”
