The artists boycotting Spotify have a hell of a lot more money and clout than a group of largely unknown athletes that have spent a huge portion of their lives training for something often in niche sports with monetary prospects that aren’t anywhere near the same ballpark as someone like Neil Young. Blame the IOC. Not the athletes.
Artists can take their business else where, but there is only 1 Olympic event… that too every 4 years. It’s tough for Olympic athletes, this isn’t a good comparison

I guess it’s because athletes’ career prime year is too short. They can’t afford to miss one single Olympic.
While an artist can always produce artworks almost throughout his/her whole adult life.
