I worked at two locations over 9/11. Both locations had a park and ride. I feel like the cars that were left there were left for months (they weren't). I'd go on break and just stare at them. Nice, expensive cars. Middle of the road cars. Older cars. Pick ups. Sedans. A black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Baby seats and kids toys. A coffee cup. Stuff.
What got me is I don't think any of them were stripped, or broken into, or stolen.
Reminds me of the scene in Band of Brothers when Malarkey goes to pick up his laundry, after D-day plus but they were back in England to refit, and there were the packages of laundry for all the guys who didn’t make it back. Simple but direct in showing how real it all was.
