We need more info. That photo looks like it's from the 60s or 70s with the discoloration and the train looks like it's 100 years old

Every time this picture gets reposted, loads of skeptics turn out. I just don't get it, why? Steam locomotives are in fact still used in China today. In the 90s, they were much more commonly used. As far as the timing goes, the picture is just entirely plausible. Further, in the 90s, digital cameras were not common even in the west, so it's completely believable the above picture was taken with a cheap "non-focusable" type compact film camera. Lastly, the guy - we can't verify from non-Chinese sources it is the same guy, but is that so unbelievable either? That a middle-aged engine driver was retrained to drive high speed electric units? Yes, there might have been a propaganda aspect to it, but that does not make the picture untrue.
