I went skiing the other day and stopped on the hill for some food. I picked up a $13 bone dry cheeseburger off a drying rack and grabbed a powerade from the fridge then went to the register. The cashier then tells me it will ask for a tip before I insert my card.

He got upset when I asked him what I was tipping for, since I just grabbed all of my food myself and also had to bus my own table. He said it was for the kitchen employees who actually cooked the food, and looked at me like I was crazy when I told him it's the resort's job to pay those people properly.

At around $150 for a daily lift ticket to a mountain where you charge $13 for a shitty dried out cheeseburger and $60 for hoodies from the shop, can you really not afford to pay your employees a decent wage?
