My mother's cataract surgery including cost of lens, fees, and all post-surgery medicines cost the equivalent of about 175 USD, and that's because we chose a more expensive lens. With the standard lens, it would have been around 85 USD.
With cataract surgery you can get all generics but you might be dropping four times a day. You should be able to get all three for under $100 even without insurance. With insurance you should be under $20.
The brand name only products can be used once a day which is really nice, but yes you may pay $300 out of pocket. If you don't want to pay that / insurance doesn't cover, ask for the generics you have to use more often.
Ofloxacin, ketorolac, prednisolone are the most common where I am.

America does not have a healthcare system. It has an insurance industry.
