A couple coworkers and I took a train to Sendai from Tokyo just to see this while we were over there for work once... From a distance it was absolutely staggering. Looked like something from a fantasy novel. Once you got close to it it started to look kinda cheap for some reason though. Don't know what it's made out of, but up close it looked almost more like a massive plastic toy than a massive statue.
