My township has a law that all solicitors must get pre approved first. Some religious groups tried going around it saying it’s illegal against religion. Do we just called the cops and they got removed anyways.
When I was renting a small house about 7 years ago, after an unprompted visit from a religious group that rhymes with Behova's Mitnesses, I made and put this on my door: [Imgur](https://imgur.com/fV262Nd)
Worked pretty well. For some reason I never bothered to reprint it and put on my door at my current apartment, but I've only been interrupted by different religious groups twice in my 5 years here. One of those times I read later on a community news site that the police subsequently interrupted their visits for lack of paperwork.
