I took my kiddo for a walk in the mountains a few weeks ago. The rain caught us by surprise and I had no umbrella.
I just picked him up, took off my jacket and covered him with it, before walking the 1 hour needed to get home.
He fell asleep in my arms, and the weather was freezing. I was wet from head to toe, and he fell asleep on my shoulder, still dry thanks to my jacket.
My arm was shaking with the strain of having to hold his entire limp weight, but I kept going.
In the end, we arrived home. He woke up, and said “daddy is all wet”.
I took off my clothes, put on a new set, and went on to make a hot cocoa and crashed on the sofa looking at some Disney movie with the kiddo.
Fell asleep after 5 minutes, but my kid still looks at me like his superhero every day… and I’d do it all over again. It’s one of those memories that I will cherish forever.
