In or about 1990 my family began just decorating different items rather than a tree. The first year it was a coat rack. One year we decorated a bicycle. Once the kids were old enough to make suggestions as to what to decorate it became even more fun. Bonus, always cheaper and easier than getting a tree. Cheers all.
