There's this theory I once heard that says that Cheetah cubs have evolved to look like a full grown honey badger. It's called mimicry evolution, when one species "mimics" the appearance of another species usually as a form of self defence.

Cheetahs’ infant mortality rate is upwards of 90%. They look like that to mimic honey badgers because often the mother is too small to fend off predators like hyenas and lions.

They can run fast but tire easily and get their kills stolen for the same reason they can’t fend off attackers, so if their young aren’t hunted, there’s a good chance they’ll starve anyways.

They also don’t have retractible claws so they can’t climb up trees.

Not to mention, they have crippling anxiety. Often, cheetahs in zoos need a service animal, like a lab, to keep themselves stable and socialized.

Beautiful animal, but I’m not sure how they’re not extinct.

Natures a bitch.
