Here is a higher quality and less cropped version of this image. Here is the source. Per there:

Due to the epidemic of Infantile Paralysis in Chicago, the reopening of schools there was delayed. Students were given a pre-arranged course of study via the radio stations, in accordance with a schedule drawn up by several school principals. Some of the students listening to the scholastic broadcast: left to right, front row: Patricia Smith and Jack Smith; back row: Chuck Murray and Jim Murray.

That's what gets me about all the COVID deniers claiming that public health responses are about authoritarian government control or "liberal takeover". We've been here before, people wore masks during the 1918 pandemic, kids remote learned, gatherings were restricted, etc. That didn't result in some dystopia. The public health measures were removed when the viruses were beat or people were sufficiently vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. Same with COVID. Do what it takes to save lives, and we'll get back to normal as soon as we can.
