Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) doubled down on a controversial anime video that depicted him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and claimed there was "nothing hateful" in the clip.

In a Sunday newsletter to constituents, Rep. Gosar called outrage over the anime video "infantile" and said any accusations that it was dangerous were "laughable."

The Arizona Republican also blamed "the left" who he said "purposefully mischaracterized its meaning" and claimed his staff had produced the video.

Rep. Gosar added: "After Twitter defamed me and called the cartoon 'hateful' we took it down. There is nothing 'hateful' in the video, but the Democrats and left-wing media were screaming at Twitter to take action against me."

He later continued: "There are anti-heroes in the short story represented a Titan, or a humanoid that attacks humans (sic). The Titan is obviously not human.

"The anime ends where the hero stops short in front of an image of Joe Biden, ready to do cartoon battle. Superimposed, rather crudely, is my face as the cartoon hero, and the face of Rep. [Ocasio-]Cortez as the Titan.

"As a proud member of the open borders caucus, she is representative of the plague of illegal immigration. Her penchant for amnesty is well known, as is my opposition. The depiction of Mr. Biden pertains to his administration's decision to leave the border while illegal aliens invade from all points."

Rep. Gosar later said: "The cartoon exposes the threats to America. It does not make any threat to anyone."

After Rep. Gosar uploaded the video onto his Twitter and Instagram accounts earlier this month, he was swiftly met with condemnation from Democrats.

House Democrats are now pushing to censure Rep. Gosar over the video, which they said promoted violence against elected officials and went "beyond the pale."

While many Republicans have remained silent over the video, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Representatives Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) have condemned Rep. Gosar over the video.

Should Rep. Gosar be censured, he would be the first since Democrat Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) faced the punishment in 2010 over the improper solicitation of funds.

The anime used in Rep. Gosar's tweet focuses on a group of soldiers who defend their walled city from Titans trying to breach the defenses to eat the population inside.

In order to kill the Titans, soldiers cut the back of their necks with swords - the same way Rep. Gosar fatally dispatched Rep. Ocasio-Cortez in the clip.

Newsweek has contacted Rep. Gosar, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and House Minority Leader McCarthy for comment.

Listened to Mea Culpa this weekend. The guest looks into hate group platforms on the internet. He said that Gossar is the most dangerous member of Congress. He is aligned with a well known Neo Nazi. Very dangerous man.
