One of the most horrible Army ads I saw once was with a dad and his son, with the dad close to tears pleading his son not to join up. The son turns to him and asks does he not want to see him travel the world, be the best he can be, make lifelong friends etc. The dad ends up just looking proud and agrees to let him go.
The dad had every imaginable reason under the sun not to want him to join up. Way more than he could fit on a poster.
