image for Travis Scott Sued Over ‘Predictable and Preventable’ Astroworld Tragedy

Travis Scott is being sued by a concertgoer who was injured during the Astroworld tragedy on Friday night, which left eight people dead and hundreds more injured.

“Defendants failed to properly plan and conduct the concert in a safe manner,” Souza’s attorney, Steve Kherkher of the firm Kherkher Garcia LLP, said.

“Instead, they consciously ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers, and, in some cases actively encouraged and fomented dangerous behaviors.”.

The suit, which was obtained by the Daily Mail, names Travis Scott and Drake as defendants and are accused of negligence.

It alleges that Drake “came on stage alongside Travis Scott and helped incite the crowd” and “the crowd became chaotic and a stampede began leaving eight dead and dozens including Kristian Paredes severely injured.”.

Representatives for Scott, ScoreMore and Live Nation have yet to comment on the lawsuit, which is the first of what’s predicted to be many.

My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival,” he wrote. »

On Wednesday, Republicans blocked a vote on the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Voting rights advocates are urgently warning that the absence of federal voting rights protections is having a devastating impact on representation for communities of color, erasing decades of hard-fought gains for once-disenfranchised groups and preventing fast-changing demographics from leading to a shift in political power, particularly in the South.

This new form of extreme gerrymandering is exactly why voting rights advocates say Congress needs to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act that would restore the Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act that would ban partisan gerrymandering. »
