Thank you all so much for the kind words!

--oops, really meant the title more as a rhetorical, but I guess its against rules asking for feedback.. Apologies!

The back story: We took our son to his first Renaissance festival about three weeks ago and he loved it.. We got him this sword and shield while we were there, and so on the way home he decided now he wanted to go as a knight for Halloween instead of a spider as originally planed.

I'm a crafty guy and like making stuff, so I figured I'd give it a go.. no previous experience or plans to go off of besides a the vision in my head ha.. I was going to try cardboard at first but wanted something more durable and flexible, so I picked up a roll of 6mm EVA foam and it was perfect (side bonus, worked great as insulation to keep him warm). After roughly measuring him I used a pencil to trace the design and a razor to cut it all out, really just winging it as I went along. Super glue gel worked great to secure all the details, and I just used brads for all joint pieces so they could easily bend/rotate. Painted the pieces with a base of plain silver spray paint, then a finish coat using rustoleum hammered cast iron spray paint. Finally I pounded metal eyelets in and used some leather cording for all the straps. Think it was only $65-75 all said and done. Anyways we are both pretty stoked with how well it turned out! He loves it! Here it is on the stand: https://i.imgur.com/B2jgtuQ.jpg

So finally for this pic, I had taken a photo of him in the alley behind city hall just after the town costume contest and he asked if I could make it cool and edit him onto a mountain.. I had taken this shot with a random dog from a previous trip to Colorado and I think it worked perfect.. our brave knight on an epic journey with his direwolf to battle dragons and score delicious loot!
