There's a great documentary on YouTube about a guy in Australia who used to be a programmer and now he devotes himself to photographing mushrooms and other fungus. He gets some amazing stills and time lapse shots.

Edit: my 3 year old loves it as well because the mushrooms are so weird and beautiful.
