More Texas voters believe Gov. Greg Abbott Greg AbbottRepublicans plow forward with election challenges 200 migrants released after detainment in Texas under Abbott border program Florida bars state agencies from assisting with Biden immigration policies MORE (R) does not deserve to be reelected, according to a poll released on Tuesday.

The survey conducted by Quinnipiac University found that 51 percent of registered voters in Texas believe Abbott does not deserve to be reelected, compared with 42 percent who said the governor deserves a third term.

The opposition to Abbott’s reelection was up from June, when a separate Quinnipiac poll found that 46 percent of Texas voters supported Abbott’s 2022 reelection bid, compared with 48 percent who did not.

The most recent poll also found that only 44 percent of Texans approve of the way Abbott is handling his job as governor, compared with 47 percent who disapprove of the work he has done.

Those numbers, according to Quinnipiac, mark the first time since the firm started polling on the Lone Star State that Abbott’s approval rating has sunk below his disapproval rating, referred to as being "underwater."

Abbott and his state have spent a considerable amount of time in the headlines recently, including after he signed the most restrictive abortion law in the nation and as the Texas legislature engaged in a fierce debate over a controversial voting rights bill.

Most of the United States agrees.

This guy hasn't just been toxic for Texas, he's been toxic for America.

He downplayed covid, the vaccine, and didn't just fail in implementing covid safeguards, he actively worked against them.

His anti-abortion bill is one of the most corrupt and oppressive pieces of legislation we have seen in a long time.

He is actively trying to suppress Texans' constitutional right to vote.

Feel free to add to this list.

This is the crucial portion of the article and I'm glad they put it in.

Sometimes there's a case where someone like Abbot has bad polling. But when you dig in you find he's got weak support among his base. Like, if Abbot had worse numbers among Republicans then you'd think that a big part of those saying "He does not deserve re-election" are actually RIGHT of him. They want an Allen West style candidate who will propose building drones to pick up illegals off the streets and fly them over the border or fines for even THINKING about abortion. However, when push comes to shove, if Abbot is the R nominee, they'll consolidate behind him because even if they hate Abbot for being a RINO (or whatever) he's still better than any socialist communist ANTIFA BLM Democrat.

However, while Abbot's numbers are good but not great (to be fair) among his base, his independent numbers are quite bad and he's obviously despised among Dems. He won't get a big groundswell of support for running against any "generic democrat". Obviously, there's a LOT to still unpack between how things change as the election is closer, when we move to likely voters and voter suppression tactics PLUS the quality of the candidate the Dems run. But these are not great numbers for Abbot.

Well, I mean, Cruz left for Mexico and abandoned his people to freeze and starve.

And abbott tried to sick us all upon each other like rabid animals for a price tag of $10,000.

So yeah, I’m not voting for either one of those Bourgeoisie scum bags.
