Holy shit that's no joke. If you aren't currently taking custom orders I'd say to start doing so if you have the time and desire to. Was visiting my mom's place this summer and noticed she had BOXES UPON BOXES of sewn together masks for covid. She was giving them away.
She'd been a seamstress practically her whole life, said she wanted to help out. Well, the masks were free, but the amount people offered to her as a tip in lieu of the price of what it cost her; wound up more often than not being worth larger amounts than what she thought she would get if she sold them.
She was actually one of the Teddy Bear Co. (vermont) first workers. The whole family is super tight with the founder John Sortino. Dude is wacky as fuck, but a wild ride nontheless. But in any case, she basically made every single outfit that every last bast in that place that got shipped anywhere; was wearing and for a solid 10 years from the companies inception.
Anyway I think this is all just anecdotal stuff involving seamstress work and maybe I have nothing of value with this wall of text, but if I were a gambling man; I'd say gambling on your future in this field wouldn't exactly be a gamble, but more a sure bet.
