If you ever get the chance to read the journals of Lewis & Clark, do so. Their descriptions of what the plains used to be like will blow you away. What we know today is nothing—and I mean absolutely _nothing_—like what it used to be. Imagine thousands upon thousands of Buffalo, deer, antelope, elk, and more filling the landscape in every direction you turned. That’s what they saw and what we’ve lost.
