There were a lot of stupid people who didn't understand the difference between a Sikh and a Muslim following 9/11.

Here is the closest thing to a source that I could find for this image. Per there:

@smithsonian

Four days after the 9/11 attacks, on Sept. 15, 2001, Balbir Singh Sodhi, a Sikh American, was shot and killed in Mesa, Arizona. The killer, a white, middle-aged male, was sentenced to life in prison. Photo in our @amhistorymuseum .

They follow up with this tweet that includes this image. Per there:

Originally from Punjab, India, Sodhi moved to the U.S. in 1989. Sodhi saved money, hoping to bring his family from India to the U.S. A day before he was killed, he had been working with Sikh leaders to plan a press conference to explain Sikhism. Photo in our @amhistorymusuem.

not a sikh here, just some English guy, but honestly people Research the differences and how to Identify a Sikh person (The 5 K's) they have massively different beliefs and values.. even History, Fighting the Mughal empire against forced conversions etc Battle of Saragarhi alongside the British Empire.. Quite interesting when you look in to it.

one thing I admire about them is their concept of Langar, basically they are willing to feed anybody no matter who you are for FREE, and their belief that no matter by which name we call God, we all ultimately follow different rivers leading to the same path, those who follow the path correctly tend which is most of them tend to be very respectful, I like them as a whole, not everyone is perfect but for the most part they have an amazing belief system that's a credit to this world and I have met some great Sikhs.

Basics of Sikhi is a great YouTube channel to learn the basics about them, go to the old videos to see a guy called Jagraj Singh, His online presence got me in to learning a lot more about Sikhism, sadly he has since passed away, but he was a fantastic guy, even know I never knew him personally, you can tell he was a good person who portrayed Sikhism in a good light, he founded that YT channel.

also RIP to the person who was killed and mentioned in this post.
