We had to let him go tonight, it was the best decision, but so damn hard.
I had never had a dog, and being in the Australian bush, I knew I wanted only one kind of dog - Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler.
We searched high and low, as I insisted on a rescue, until after a mutli town search I made contact with our town's pound. There he was. Scared, savage, and due to be PTS. He loved me immediately, so we took him home. It took 6 months for him to trust my husband, but since then he was always the sweetest and most gentle boy.
I am missing a piece of my heart.

I'm sorry you lost your best friend. We let ours go last Tuesday. 18 years old. No matter how much time you have with them, it isn't enough.
