The Taliban fighter didn’t like what he found. He tried to crack a DVD with the children’s film “Kurt Gets Cruel”.

Even the Christmas songs on the CD “In this sweet Christmas time” were not appreciated.

But the wooden skis with Kandahar bindings have been carefully thought out.

When the Taliban took power in Kabul on August 15, many Western embassies were emptied. Employees of the Danish and Norwegian embassies in the Wazir Akbar Khan district were evacuated the day before. Private assets were not included.

A whole small stump of street with several adjacent houses sits behind high walls and huge metal gates. But Danes and Norwegians no longer live here. There are fighters of the Taliban extremist Islamist movement, against which Norway and other NATO countries have been fighting for 20 years. Norway has had an embassy in Afghanistan for as many years.

Aftenposten is in Kabul and has made a trip to the embassy. There we were greeted kindly, as we have been until now by the Taliban soldiers. Shouldn’t we be admitted? we asked.

The Taliban guards argued among themselves. What would they do? But since we showed accreditation we received from the Taliban, we were allowed.
