Sorry for the low quality picture. So thanks to some Redditors on here, they thought we should get my dad a Oculus Rift. He had a bucket list of "hugging big cats of the world". But since that was kind of impossible. A Oculus was the next best thing. They came in stock today and we got him one. He's so immersed by it! Mind you he isn't good with technology.

Got him hooked up to Youtubes VR videos. He's talking about how amazing it is. Though a bit blurry sometimes. None the less he's like a kid in the candy store! We wanted him to see the world before he passes and this is great for that. And it makes for good memories for us left behind. While I am not ready for him to go yet, I am just enjoying moments like this where he acts like a kid again.

He is dying from leukemia. They said he could have months left. Maybe a year at most. He's not looking for sympathy or pity of course. He's accepted death. He worked his butt off for years for us. Being disabled I cost them two bankruptcies from medical bills. And yet my childhood was wonderful. I'm thankful to have a dad like this. And I'm thankful for the support Redditors have given me along with the many ideas.

If anyone has knows someone that is dying, the Rift seems to be perfect. It brings them joy. I'm 40 now and never thought VR would happen in my life time. Let alone his. Sorry for this being all over the place. I'm just thankful for you all! <3

When I first used one, I was amazed. When I saw my parents using it, I was in shock. That's when I thought they should have them in nursing homes, hospitals, etc. I would have loved to see my grandma's reaction visiting her home country once more.

Has he done Wander? It uses google maps. You can go anywhere in the world, from your childhood home, to deserted pacific islands, to Antarctica and it feels like you're standing right there. You can also just push 'random" and let it take you somewhere then try to guess where. Nature Treks is relaxing, too. Best wishes to all of your family!
