Actor Norman Reedus has appeared to confirm that discussions have begun for a sequel to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding.

Speaking to Brazilian reporter Vitória Pratini from AdoroCinema (via IGN Brasil), the actor reportedly said: “I think we’re doing a second Death Stranding. [The game] is in negotiations right now. So… Yay!”

This marks the second time Reedus has appeared to hint that Death Stranding 2 is in the works. Last year the actor claimed he was “in talks” to work on another project with director Hideo Kojima.

“We did Death Stranding, which was a huge hit, and we’re in talks to do other stuff,” he told Wired. Later in the video Reedus added that he was “talking to Hideo about maybe doing some Death Stranding stuff”, although it’s not clear if he was referring to the upcoming Directors Cut version.

The original Death Stranding was released for PS4 in November 2019 and for PC in July 2020. Kojima Productions’ debut title has sold through five million copies globally, its developer claimed in July.

The game was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and co-developed by its Guerrilla studio. Recently, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst specifically mentioned Kojima Productions when discussing its partner studios.

However, it was also recently claimed that Microsoft has been in talks to sign the next game from the Japanese designer best known for the Metal Gear Solid series.

Following Death Stranding’s release in November 2019, Kojima expressed a desire to work with Norman Reedus again, perhaps in a sequel to the PS4 open-world game, but said that if he did create a follow-up he “would start from zero.”

Reedus was also previously in line to star in Kojima’s Silent Hills. Announced in 2014, the horror game was to be directed by Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. The project was cancelled by publisher Konami following the release of a playable teaser called P.T.

A PlayStation 5 version of Death Stranding, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, will be released on September 24. The PS5 remaster boasts enhanced visuals and several new features not available in the PS4 original.

These include new combat mechanics designed to make battling enemies more enjoyable. Melee attacks have been upgraded, a new Maser gun can be acquired, and players can also find mounted machine guns.

Was this in question? Death Stranding was fairly successful and Hideo Kojima kind of does whatever the fuck he wants, so it was never that unlikely to see a sequel
