I was too but there was NEVER a plan for Afghanistan. We took their poppy for awhile and made oxycodone with it, but there was never a plan for what to do there. The people didn't want us there. It was a losing war as soon as we started.
This absolutely disgusts me. I know so many people that are permanently fucked up from their deployments in Afghanistan. What the fuck was the point of 20 years of war and the deaths and debilitating injuries of our people to just have the country fall back into the hands of the Taliban. Just so some government contractors could make millions. A good friend of mine was so fucked up from the tours he did that he shot himself in the head with a .45 ACP. Still don’t know if he’s happy that he survived or not. Seems to have a new outlook on life but still has debilitating PTSD and night terrors in addition to the brain damage it caused. This “war” was utter bullshit and never should have happened.
