Maybe they were designed for that but when I flew into Baghdad we fit half our battalion plus a full combat load on there.
So carrying the number of people is not that hard.

It might have the option to fit 102 seats. It has a payload capacity of 170,900 pounds (77,519 kilograms) which would be around 1000 adults.
