Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has described Fox News host Tucker Carlson as a "talking inferiority complex" following his comments about her experiences during the Capitol riot on January 6.
On his prime time show on Thursday, Carlson had told Ocasio-Cortez to "get a therapist" after she expressed fears in an interview with CNN that she might have been raped by the rioters.
Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat who represents New York's 14th congressional district, responded to Carlson's remarks in a tweet on Friday and discussed survivors of sexual violence.

She shared a video of Carlson's segment about her interview, which also featured a clip of her own comments to CNN.
Ocasio-Cortez wrote: "I couldn't care less about what this talking inferiority complex has to say, but I do feel for the women and survivors in his life who now see they wouldn't be believed or safe with him."
"Many survivors of assault don't tell family, friends, etc bc of how they see others treated," she said.
Ocasio-Cortez revealed in February that she is a sexual assault survivor. The progressive Democrat had discussed her experiences of the Capitol riot with CNN's Dana Bash on Monday.
"One of the reasons why that impact was so double that day is because of the misogyny and the racism that is so deeply rooted and animated the attack on the Capitol," she said.
"White supremacy and patriarchy are very linked in a lot of ways," Ocasio-Cortez said. "There's a lot of sexualizing of that violence, and I didn't think that I was just going to be killed. I thought other things were going to happen to me as well."
When Bash asked if she meant she thought she might be raped, Ocasio-Cortez replied: "Yeah. Yeah, I thought I was."

Carlson took issue with Ocasio-Cortez's interview on Thursday and appeared to dismiss her concern about experiencing sexual violence during the Capitol riot. He had been discussing lawmakers defending the police officer who shot and killed rioter Ashli Babbitt, whose death has become a major focus for some conservatives.
"Occasionally, Sandy Cortez tells us about her 'lived experience' on January 6," Carlson said. "During a recent special on CNN, Sandy Cortez - does she ever stop talking about herself, by the way? - she explained she wasn't simply afraid of being murdered by Ashli Babbitt, she was also worried about being raped."
Carlson addressed Ocasio-Cortez comment about the "sexualizing" of violence on January 6.
"Sexualizing? Get a therapist, honey," Carlson said. "This is crazy."
Newsweek has asked Representative Ocasio-Cortez for comment.

In fairness if Tucker Carlson has an inferiority complex it's fully justified, which is more than you can say for most of his opinions.
