This one of my favorite travel stories. I went on a tour of the Vatican in the early 90s.
We were in long queue that goes down some twisty staircases. They were running announcements about how the chapel is a holy place, no pictures and to be quiet. As the recording cycled through each language, that respective language would shut up for a couple minutes. So you'd hear the German announcement, the Germans would be quiet for a bit, then you'd hear the French announcement etc...
Once you entered the chapel... It was like a festival, it was so loud and so many people pretending to not be taking photos and video of the ceiling. It was hilarious but people are jerks.
