I read a quote from post-WWI which, and was something like, a young woman trying to find love remarked, "All that's left in Britain are cripples and cowards."

Which I always thought was a nice comment on the tremendous death to several generations that occurred.

It may be selfish to say but this hits my empathy receptors hard. My kids are the same sex and about the same age as these. I picture our family when looking at this and can only imagine how they would feel if this was the hand dealt to us. So much senseless heartbreak in this world
