There are many reasons why Indians do not do well in Olympics. Govt does not provide any benefits to people who are good at sport, no benefits in getting into college etc therefore they'll not be able to earn much solely on the sports career, that makes the parents to further prevent their child to pursue sports as a career, even if they're talented. Therefore many leave their interest in sports behind and focus on academics.
