I work with a guy that worked in Nepal for a few years in the 90’s. He said it grows everywhere naturally - people’s eaves troughs etc. - and he couldn’t leave the house without people offering it to him on the street.
I met a guy who volunteered in Nepal. He lived with a host family, had to bathe in a cold stream behind the house, no wifi, they only ate rice, lentils, and cauliflower, but had a giant bag of weed under their sink. I gained a new respect for Nepal that day.
