Amazon’s New World Beta bricking EVGA RTX 3090 Cards?
Amazon's New World closed beta launched yesterday, with over 190,811 people playing it on Steam at its peak, but unfortunately, there seem to be some problems with Geforce EVGA RTX 3090 Cards.
Players are reporting high temperatures and power spikes while playing New World, and it appears that in some cases it's actually ruining people's gaming rigs by bricking their RTX 3090 Cards.

Frying GPUs: Players have come together on forums and Reddit to discuss the issues, with some suggesting capping the game to 60FPS to help cool the situation, but with the 3090 being so expensive and hard to replace it's probably best to wait until the problem is resolved.
Response: Amazon Games have now sent over a statement to us, with the spokesperson issuing the following information:
“Hundreds of thousands of people played in the New World Closed Beta yesterday, with millions of total hours played. We’ve received a few reports of players using high-performance graphics cards experiencing hardware failure when playing New World.
New World makes standard DirectX calls as provided by the Windows API. We have seen no indication of widespread issues with 3090s, either in the beta or during our many months of alpha testing.
The New World Closed Beta is safe to play. In order to further reassure players, we will implement a patch today that caps frames per second on our menu screen. We’re grateful for the support New World is receiving from players around the world, and will keep listening to their feedback throughout Beta and beyond.”

EVGA 3090s, heck, most of the 3090s have been having thermal issues, especially with their vram. EVGA cards in particular seem to be lacking in the cooling department right out of the box (excluding the kingpin and the hybrid models), so this comes as no surprise.

Ahh yes, it bricked my 3090 too. If Amazon could just send me a new one that would be great. Actually it bricked both my 3090s.

That’s convenient that the crash reports would go back to Amazon to then use against you to advertise graphics cards to replace your bricked one.
