The founding bassist of Blink-182, Mark Hoppus has updated fans with some pleasantly surprising and really positive news about his cancer. Hoppus came for a live stream on his Twitch account to talk about his health condition. Of course, the stream was saved and uploaded on YouTube as well.

My classification is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma Stage 4-A, which means, as I understand it, it’s entered four different parts of my body. I don’t know how exactly they determine the four-part of it. But it’s entered enough parts of my body that I’m Stage 4, which I think is the highest that it goes. So, I’m Stage 4-A.

While the bassist has not revealed what type of cancer he has, but he did reveal that he was going for chemotherapy. However, his words showed a lot of hope and positivity as he spoke about how his mother beat cancer. He stated,

For the past three months I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer,” he wrote. “I have cancer. It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this. I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can’t wait to be cancer-free and see you all at a concert in the hopefully near future. Love to you all.

He did post a photo of himself on an Instagram story in a health care unit, with an IV attached to him. Titling the image “Yes hello. One cancer treatment, please”. However, perhaps the singer did not want to sound too emotional or vocal about his disease or perhaps did not want people to assume things on their own so he deleted it.

He also talked about his upcoming visit to the doctor and said that,

“Ideally, I go in tomorrow and they say, ‘Congratulations, your chemotherapy has worked and you’re all done and you’ll never have to think about this cancer again for the rest of your life.'”

to beat this through chemotherapy or through bone marrow transplants, but either way I’m determined to kick cancer’s ass directly in the nuts. Love to you all. Let’s. Heckin. Go. pic.twitter.com/6ih3AEJq7y — ϻ𝔞Ⓡ𝔨 𝐇𝑜Ƥ𝐩ย𝓼 (@markhoppus) July 11, 2021

Having said that, Hoppus still has at least 3 more sessions of chemo to attend. However, the good news is that the singer told his fans that the chemo is actually working:

“I’m grateful and confused and also sick from last week’s chemo. But the poison the doctors pump into me and the kind thoughts and wishes of people around are destroying this cancer.”

Hoppus has been behind the lyrics of many of the band’s songs; he is famous for his songs, such as “What’s My Age Again?”, and platinum albums such as Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, Enema of the State and also the group’s self-titled debut album.

I put together a little cancer garden in the yard with mutated varieties because I feel connected to them through my own cells’ mutation. I sit here in the morning with them, drinking my coffee, and we’re like “well this is weird…” pic.twitter.com/U8SEWIc4wg — ϻ𝔞Ⓡ𝔨 𝐇𝑜Ƥ𝐩ย𝓼 (@markhoppus) July 10, 2021

There is no doubt that Hoppus has received massive support and love from fans on social media and other platforms as well.

My heart sank when I read his diagnosis, I really hope he beats this and can keep preforming his art that he loves. Any candid thing ive ever seen of him or any concert ive watched, he just seems like the nicest person.
