I went to the blast zone a few years ago. It’s the most ominous place I’ve ever been. Thousands of trees thrown into spirit lake like matchsticks, huge swaths of forest completely flattened. Pumice spread all over the ground. A giant fucking hole in the side of the mountain, the sides melted like a candle. It’s really intense and made me feel insignificant

Imagine hiking for hours and reaching the peak to take a picture when suddenly the next mountain over just fucking explodes.
