Rashford is a beast. One of objectively the best footballers in the country, who took it upon himself to set up a charity to feed the homeless. During lockdown he worked with Fareshare to deliver food to the homes of children who normally would get free school meals. By July 2020 he had fed 4 million kids. God only knows how many he’s helped by now.

He wrote an open letter to the government asking them to end child poverty, and a day later the government changed policy, crediting his letter as a major turning point in the discussion.

He’s done so much more than that as well. He is consistently politically active, pushing against poverty, and he uses his own personal Twitter to promote small local businesses that donate food. I don’t know him personally, but he seems like a genuinely good man.

He got unlucky with his penalty in the match yesterday. It happens. But for some sneering Tory MP - who’s too dedicated to “austerity” and lining their own pockets to care - to suggest he should stay out of politics and work on his game?

Shut the fuck up. Just, please, shut the fuck up.

Let me indulge in a bit of ad hominem comment on the source of the tweet: from reports in the Guardian newspaper, Natalie Elphicke MP has supported her ex husband, the convicted sex criminal, ex MP Charlie Elphicke, through his trial and after his conviction too. She has not, to my knowledge, publically denounced his illegal behaviour. She did not express support or sympathy to the many victims. (By all means correct me if I have missed such a statement)

In my opinion, she is not fit to clean Rashford's boots, let alone comment on his skill.

I'll take feeding thousands of vulnerable school kids over a penalty kick.
