I had to unexpectedly put my cat to sleep this morning. She was my best friend for 16 years and I loved her more than I love most people. As I said my final goodbye she used her last ounce of strength to put her paw in my hand. I miss her so much. She lit up my life. Goodbye Holly Bear

My deepest condolences… I understand this kind of unconditional love we get from our fur babies. The only humans I love more then my fur babies are my sons. I hope that you adopt another not to replace your beautiful baby but to save another life and to be loved again unconditionally. ♥️

Dude. Tears in my eyes, this is so so much the reason pets are so beloved and why it’s so heartbreaking to say goodbye. What a beautiful moment. I’m sorry you lost her.

Thank you all so much for the caring responses. Holly touched a lot of hearts in her long life and brought a tremendous amount of love with her wherever she went. She deserves to be celebrated and everyone in this topic has touched my heart and soul with their warm responses. Here are a few things about her that you might like to know.

When I first got her she was a teeny tiny kitten that was sick and couldn't eat on her own so for the first few weeks of her life I bottle fed her. She's always been my baby.

She grew up on a farm with lots of room to run around. She was an indoor/outdoor cat that loved to spend her days soaking up the sun and chasing critters in the woods.

Her original name was going to be Holiday because I got her for Christmas. That was soon changed to Holly. During this time Halle Berry was pretty popular so i started calling her Holly Berry, which eventually got shortened to Holly Bear.

She always slept above my pillow so she could cuddle my head all night. That was her spot. I had to explain to my fiance that the empty space between the headboard and pillows belonged to Holly and that we weren't allowed to put our pillows there.

She would greet me every day when I got home from work. My fiance says that holly would ask to go outside about 30 minutes before I got home to greet me every day like clockwork. Coming home from the vet and not having her greet us today really hurt.

She had only ever been to the vet once prior to today for a infection. She lived an incredibly healthy life and never had any medical issues.

She also never bit me or scratched me or anyone else. She was the definition of a lady and acted like royalty.

She lived with many cats and dogs over the years. One of our cats, Logan, is extremely protective of her and guards her like a knight guards his queen. Hes going to have a really tough time now that his queen is gone.

Thank you all so much. Holly was a cat to be celebrated. She was perfect. She was my Holly Bear
