I got into problems traveling into Germany without having cash with me.

On the INTERNATIONAL train there was nothing to drink or eat I could buy without cash. The lady behind the counter looked at me like I was an alien when I showed my debit and credit card. 6 hours in the train and dindt eat or drink the whole time.

I also learned you can buy stuff of the Internet in Germany, WITH CASH. You pay on the web shop, you get a code. You go to the supermarket and show the cashier the code, you give her the cash and she registers the code as being paid. My WTF of the day.

In Sweden it's too expensive for businesses to handle cash due to a lot of security measures put in place. In the early 2000s there was a massive wave of cash transport robberies and security measures are put in place in order to protect the cash. In order to avoid the increase in cost of handling cash, many businesses will refuse cash payments.
