Pro tip: don't wear a red shirt if you're going to Target

Honestly this hits close to home. I worked in an office pretty much my entire career and had shirt and tie on each day. Heading home from work and stop at a grocery store or other store and I’ve had my share of people asking me what aisle something was on and I politely said ‘I don’t know, I don’t work there.’ The worst was an small Asian lady one time tried to steal my cart. I had one package of paper towels in it asI had just started shopping and walked three steps away from it to grab an item. She came up and grabbed it and I said ‘ma’am, that’s my cart.’ She shot me a look of disgust and said ‘you should let me have it, I’m a customer!’ And I had to respond, ‘so am I’.

I get that this it totally opposite of the OPs point, but it happens to the best of us.

The few times that randos at the grocery store have asked for help, it’s always made me happy :) of course it’s usually old ladies asking for hilariously easy stuff. Yes ma’am I will gladly get that item from the super tall shelf 5’ up. One time an old lady asked me which frozen chicken nuggets she should get for her grandkids. She said she saw my cart and figured I have kids. I didn’t have the heart to tell her the cartoon character socks and popsicles were just me getting myself a treat lol.
