An event with former President Donald Trump as the keynote speaker that was planned for this Saturday at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama, has been canceled by park commissioners who became wary about the event’s political tone, NBC15News reports.

“After the request was made, then there was contact with the Republican Party, they contacted us and then it became apparent that it was going to be a partisan political event, rather than just a patriotic event planned for that evening,” said commission chairman Bill Tunnell.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall said that may be used for political events if the events are “available for all political parties and candidates on an equal basis.” According to Tunnell, presidential hopeful Rick Santorum used the park for a rally in 2012, which was “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

“And that’s when the commission went to the no partisan politics open to the public,” he said.

Local Tea Party activist Pete Riehm was not pleased with the decision.

“If people can’t assemble in public places. Where can we assemble?” Riehm said.

Alabama would be my second to last guess on which state would cancel a trump rally

It got canceled because they didn’t want to get stiffed on paying security overtime

It is extremely weird that a former president is still having rallies.
