One day at work I had my glass off, rubbing my eyes. I caught sight of my boss, a man who'd retired from trucking to run a breakdown service--we made eye contact. I looked at him for a second, then put my glasses on. Put a quizzical look on my face, and take my glasses off. He looking confused himself hollers across the room, "What?"
After finally putting my glasses back on I holler back, "I dunno--you just look so much prettier without my glasses on!" He laughed and did that old person "get out of here" slashy wave as he turned back to his computer.
To me, it’s not even about the coffee but the ritual of having the time to yourself before the world wants everything from you for the rest of the day.
