My HS economics teacher once told us it was more fiscally viable to raise chickens in the US (for food standards), send them to China to be broken down, and then finally back to the US again to be made to food & sold.
I live in Mexico. When remodeling my home here, I wanted the same black composite granite sink I had in the USA. I looked all over Guadalajara and on line. Finally, since Amazon USA had it, I ordered it from there. The shipping was as much as the sink. When it arrived, I about exploded when it was marked MADE IN MEXICO.

What's really messed up is that both the U.S and Thailand also grow Pear crops.
