It doesn't take a grand gesture to make someone's day better. If my wife and I are at a drive-through, we'll talk about how pleasant the order taker's voice is, or how professional they sound, as if we're having a private conversation they can't hear. They're almost always sporting a big smile when we come around to the window.

I was a cashier at your favorite tropically-themed grocery store for a few years, including the first 13 months of the pandemic. Every day I was struggling to maintain my smile through constant policy changes, scared/rude/physically-threatening customers, and the fear of exposing my family to the virus with such a public-facing job. If a customer had handed me a candy bar at checkout, it would have made my day. I would have been gushing to my fellow crew and managers about how considerate it was, and I would have devoured it during my company-mandated 15 minute break. Seeing so many people grab onto this idea improves my hopes for humanity!

A few years ago I was a cashier at a Target. A young couple came through my line and were talking about bubble tea. I mentioned I loved it but hadn't had it in forever and now that they had mentioned it, I had to go get some after I was off work. They returned about 30 minutes or so later with a Thai Iced tea with boba for me. It totally made my day.
