I read a book once called the ''Case against Adolescence'' in the book, the author. Dr. Robert Epstein provides evidence that young people being unable to enjoy the great outdoors are also the result of laws that were made between the 1920s and 1980s to discourage youth rights activism.

Example laws include businesses in various states being allowed to deny service to teens during school hours and businesses like arcades being forced to close at certain times of the day. Such laws reached their popularity during the 1960s when young people were at the forefront of civil rights activism.

Basically, as long as young people are having any form of independent fun, they are a "delinquent''. The best young person is one who obeys their parents, obeys their teachers, and obeys the state without question.

Edit*

The book also covered how "stranger danger" has made younger generations increasingly paranoid of public socialization.

I remember my dad's dueling declarations of

Just go out and find friends and play outside with them all day like a kid should.

You're forbidden from going more than a block away from the house because then I can't keep track of you.
